Quilt finishes

 Hi Friends

I wanted to share with you some of my quilt finishes.  These quilt tops were made during my first quilt retreat in 2024.  I finished sewing the borders and backings at my retreat last year.  I was finally able to get them to my long armer. Here they are:

This is my John Wayne quilt.  Right before my dad passed away, I saw this fabric line and panel on Pinterest.  I wanted to make one like it.  I bought the fabric and then it all sat. The first quilt retreat I went to, I was determined to get it put together.  I did, except for the borders.  They were put on last year.  Because our quilt guild is working on WIPs (works in progress), I put this at the top of the list.  It needed to be finished.  I took it to the long armer and had it back in no time.  I am not sure of the binding.  If you look closely it almost looks orange.  The back of the quilt is a red like the star in the quilt.  I may take off the binding and make it the same color as the last border.  What do you think?

And this is my Plus Quilt using Fall/Halloween charms.  I got the pattern from In Color Order.  Jeni has great patterns.  Check her out. If you look closely at the white plus, they used a spider web motif for the quilting.  It cost a lot more than other designs.  I would probably pick something cheaper next time.  This quilt is a decent size for a lap quilt. I was so happy to use up my charm packs. I think I have enough Fall quilts now.  I do have a pattern for a Fall leaf quilt but since I have already made one like it, I may never make it.  How many seasonal/holiday quilts is to much?

That is all I have to share with you today.  Two more quilts just went to the quilter that I finished during my retreat.  My next post will feature pictures of all of the wonderful prizes we received.  It will be a long post.

Blessings
Amy

The Overachiever?

 Hi Friends

Hope you are all doing well.  I am keeping myself busy.  I have my guild retreat this weekend and I can't wait!  I have 3 quilts cut out to work on and a couple more to finish up. Our guild ran a challenge this year.  We were to list 10 items on our WIPs (works in progress) list.  Each month they would pick a number and that is what you would work on to finish for the month. As this headline reads, I was an overachiever this year so far.  Here is my list:

The first number they picked was 1 for January.  That quilt was the John Wayne quilt.  I had just sent it to the long armer to be finished. What I decided to do was gather all my WIPs and put them in a basket.  If I wanted to sew, I had to work from that basket. Most of these items listed were in the basket.  I had a snowy weekend and decided to tackle these projects. I even added a number 11 to the list.  My daughter in love's friend is having a baby and I made a baby quilt for her. There are only 4 items left on the list. #3 is a Nautical quilt that I think I want to put borders on.  I have the backing so I need to finish this.  #4 is the Floral Bouquet quilt that is a retirement gift for a friend someday.  I just need to bind and label this. #7 and #8 are two quilts that I have cut out and plan to piece during retreat.  I also have a quilt cut out for another friend that is retiring soon.  I think I need to start a new list.  There are quilts I would like to make.  As far as finishing items, I sure don't have many in my stash to finish.

I would like to make a few scrap quilts to have on hand for gifts.  I also have a cow quilt I would like to put together as I have all of the fabrics and patterns.  I am also going to make a sampler quilt.  Lori Holt did a red sampler and I am not a big fan of the color red. I decided to do mine in blue.  I have most of the fabric and all of the books she worked out of.  I hope to start that later this summer when it's too hot to be outside. Other than that, I don't have anything on the docket to make.  It is nice but also very weird.  I usually have 4 or 5 projects going at once.  It is so nice to finish things though.  I may have just turned over a new leaf!

I am going to print out a new list and see what I can add to it.  Do you have multiple projects going all at once?  Or do you finish what you start?

Blessings,

Amy
