I am not sure anyone reads this anymore, but I am still going to use it to post my thoughts. If you are reading this, please post a comment.</p><p>2024 has not started off the best. We had some bad weather in January forcing some appointment changes for mom and some work from home challenges. February 9th was my son's 27th birthday. He came down and we took him out to eat. Unbeknownst to us, mom was carrying covid. We all got together on Saturday at my sister's. Mom was coughing pretty badly. We thought it was extra fluid as she is a dialysis patient. My son and I took her to the ED when we were done at the party. They ran their normal tests and she came back positive. We were all shocked! She thinks she picked it up when she went out to eat with a friend earlier in the week. By Wednesday, we all had tested positive. Luckily I can work from home. On Wednesday I woke up with the worst teeth pain of my life. I took a Mucinex and called out of work. Slept most of the day. But that was the worst of it for me. My mom spent 2 nights in the hospital but was never on oxygen, just weak.</p><p>March 3rd was my mom's birthday. We had a few birthday parties for her. We are all feeling so much better. My son was home again this past weekend. It's always great to have him home. This was a bunny I made for mom's birthday. I made the bow and put on the flowers. It will sit outside her apartment door in the hallway.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7FncuvNvNXSF_VSawCz22YSCn5f8lPw9Bz6g-tML1_QyeXh3AWQ9yW6eSb0vb3tlGEhR6ZPTUJDPrHR6-lG_rvb8kGVN23HRvOUeAA9Hq6HuDWPUtCMs9XsCxRPQxnkrC1uP5yjqK0EtI0DurP_kniX-OxV7Wymqz9JET67dTAygBgpKnhnO15FKzNUU/s1653/IMG_20240229_071354_030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1653" data-original-width="1653" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7FncuvNvNXSF_VSawCz22YSCn5f8lPw9Bz6g-tML1_QyeXh3AWQ9yW6eSb0vb3tlGEhR6ZPTUJDPrHR6-lG_rvb8kGVN23HRvOUeAA9Hq6HuDWPUtCMs9XsCxRPQxnkrC1uP5yjqK0EtI0DurP_kniX-OxV7Wymqz9JET67dTAygBgpKnhnO15FKzNUU/s320/IMG_20240229_071354_030.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Back in December I needed to make a baby quilt for a coworker. I had found a really neat pattern and got started. I was finished with the quilt and I like to wash them before I gift them. Unfortunately, where I had sewed on the binding waves, it had pulled apart in some places. I tried to fix them and re-washed the quilt. Other areas opened up. Ugh! I could not gift this!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoCLS6Oy9KlL51-hnm40zPmSRndcHZmcBPEF8l3iJxD42Vup-1xvvkj8HM0G7UaNu3CaKxFyhsGTDVHrSHHK5F1MkX1kI5suFqZ11fr75RO96wX6IOHXVZ41Uo-rhheF0gtFOGQk_TdX0-66Pb5IEy3jrrtb0gg9TCQgnJUMVC0YL1MBVgFzIIYSL33Ck/s4000/20231203_190230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="1848" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoCLS6Oy9KlL51-hnm40zPmSRndcHZmcBPEF8l3iJxD42Vup-1xvvkj8HM0G7UaNu3CaKxFyhsGTDVHrSHHK5F1MkX1kI5suFqZ11fr75RO96wX6IOHXVZ41Uo-rhheF0gtFOGQk_TdX0-66Pb5IEy3jrrtb0gg9TCQgnJUMVC0YL1MBVgFzIIYSL33Ck/w296-h640/20231203_190230.jpg" width="296" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This picture was before the finished binding. Looks great! But it did not wash well. I am taking it all apart and redoing it to gift to another baby. Hopefully it doesn't pull apart this time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I still needed a quilt. What was I going to do. I found a pattern on Pinterest and decided I could paper piece the blocks. I quickly got to work and made this:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaie2PvJbQ9j3rP9QgFYSYVENmusYPkt16hdIbFL1SXIuRsV1JQAI8teQOod73h7JbTpO-C5anFhe4T7p6yh7Fbm2t1MyZJLVvfLeqweWW9Qoc4WiPdoan_J6X6oJtKiWnHl1b45fd8D-p7eLzbpof-hXDLZwBXslQEpMmEcUuKCt8sLIaTAmnnBZ7iFU/s4000/20231211_054812.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="1848" height="445" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaie2PvJbQ9j3rP9QgFYSYVENmusYPkt16hdIbFL1SXIuRsV1JQAI8teQOod73h7JbTpO-C5anFhe4T7p6yh7Fbm2t1MyZJLVvfLeqweWW9Qoc4WiPdoan_J6X6oJtKiWnHl1b45fd8D-p7eLzbpof-hXDLZwBXslQEpMmEcUuKCt8sLIaTAmnnBZ7iFU/w269-h445/20231211_054812.jpg" width="269" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The baby room theme was ocean so I think this fit the bill. It washed up nicely I just hope it stays together.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In between making baby quilts, I also was knitting. My bestie in Colorado loves purple so I made this for her:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtmyQDW559TwD1Dm80HGgj0ZfJCvHMed2-MNVcoTvsfx85Tt06zALSWhM9jtFKRYc-AWQIMQQsM14ZU5_GWAdcpYfEXDX_dRw5sApQHzJZSaSqcHj-JPFLJsuXua62lLhFVMx06Pz_l73TzoBi681fGmP2Xg6tcsSrqLasuuaixOQXjhvPUfjG5xCnSr4/s4000/20240214_095058.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="1848" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtmyQDW559TwD1Dm80HGgj0ZfJCvHMed2-MNVcoTvsfx85Tt06zALSWhM9jtFKRYc-AWQIMQQsM14ZU5_GWAdcpYfEXDX_dRw5sApQHzJZSaSqcHj-JPFLJsuXua62lLhFVMx06Pz_l73TzoBi681fGmP2Xg6tcsSrqLasuuaixOQXjhvPUfjG5xCnSr4/w296-h640/20240214_095058.jpg" width="296" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's a scarf. My sister made me one and I get compliments every time I wear it. I hope my friend does too. I am working on another one at the moment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now on to goals for 2024. I have picked my word for the year just need time to make it up. Hopefully by my next post. I am going to a quilt retreat in April with members of my quilt guild. I can't wait!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here are things I would like to work on:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Floral Bouquet Quilt-pattern by Tilda Fabrics</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">John Wayne Quilt- bought a panel and fabric from Fat Quarter Shop</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Cow Quilt-bought panel from a local quilt shop</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Wild and Goosey-pattern by Bonnie Hunter</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Potato Chip Quilt-making for a retired friend</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As far as goals for the year, I'd like to get some quilts made for gifting. I would like to make 2 or 3 baby quilts and 2 or 3 scrap quilts. I am not setting hard goals as I don't want to set myself up for failure. Since we can't predict how the year is going to go, I would just like to continue sewing and crafting. What I get done, I get done.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you have goals? How do you stick with them?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-33122427762043343522024-01-15T10:57:00.000-06:002024-01-15T10:57:51.159-06:00Happy New Year! - 2024<p> Hello Friends!</p><p>Hope you had a relaxing and joyful holiday with friends and family. If not, I hope you took some time for some self care and love.</p><p>Not much has been happening on the sewing/craft front. I did put together a mug rug for the first challenge of Project Quilting this year. I will post about that at a later time. It was nice to sew again. I have been going through my sewing room and organizing and purging. I have found I have too many scraps again. Time to make some scrappy quilts!</p><p>I am working on my goals for crafting and sewing this year. I have a lot of things I need to do on the outside of my house this Spring/Summer, but I hope I will still have time to finish a few things. While cleaning I have discovered other crafts that aren't sewing related. I am deciding if I will work on them once a month or let them go. I enjoy so many different things, it's hard to decide. I am also currently knitting a scarf for a friend. Her birthday was in October but I just didn't get it finished. I am so close! I am also working on my word for the year. I have the word picked out just need to decide on fabric choices.</p><p>What about you? Do you make goals and try to stick to them? Do you journal? How do you keep track of your goals and things that need finishing?</p><p><br /></p><p>Back soon with pictures and other fun things!</p><p>Blessings</p><p>Amy</p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-18124144016567761182023-11-08T07:12:00.000-06:002023-11-08T07:12:09.490-06:00Before and After House - 2023<p> Hi Friends!</p><p>Hope you are starting to get into the holiday groove. I am so excited for Thanksgiving. I love it more than Christmas honestly. I think there is more work involved with Christmas and it just makes me tired. With Thanksgiving, I really get to enjoy my time with family. Everyone brings something for the meal so I don't feel like I do it all. Really no pressure, just fun.</p><p>As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had windows and siding put on the house this summer. This house was built in 1896. My parents bought it in 1972. I was 2. It's the only house I've really known. My dad put lots of time and money into redoing the inside. They put a metal roof on about 12 years ago. Any time he changed a window, he just put rolled siding around it. Nothing ever matched. It was time to update and make it my own. I bought it 5 years ago. It was really bittersweet though. It no longer looks like the house I grew up in. Here it is before:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Wdj6y_AZwMz8ofcelX4DONTBH2bgf2O0HA83NkgpakBxMMeudhaCbxhoMZAOjzVP0NkPsfL7TpFbPdaKc57PZwWApFmVLEaNDRls5jVDMOKUf2kkNHkRF31cJexqVSaND48g1-t5EfKhF3taYL56IZxuhIHhuJHORD2H1KWsMLj1WUZvx1RpZaB-ZVw/s435/house.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="282" data-original-width="435" height="259" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8Wdj6y_AZwMz8ofcelX4DONTBH2bgf2O0HA83NkgpakBxMMeudhaCbxhoMZAOjzVP0NkPsfL7TpFbPdaKc57PZwWApFmVLEaNDRls5jVDMOKUf2kkNHkRF31cJexqVSaND48g1-t5EfKhF3taYL56IZxuhIHhuJHORD2H1KWsMLj1WUZvx1RpZaB-ZVw/w400-h259/house.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And here is the after:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYBeWASjGKpkuLLogp1F87LT8GDqdShGJCEeeHwD1MfrHG8LFuQD4evGLnQEizfoYCrZ2C9SVaCL6SWZmihOblu8kyK3Mm3uxogliS5lIwFjQPH5YrgzZylbiUYkueH1lMEVORgnf09ILAxy3s9NxRZumSPSG8sclId0P4bbZ6fSqgAoKmDBhTWWPfMKs/s4000/20231004_155014.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1848" data-original-width="4000" height="185" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYBeWASjGKpkuLLogp1F87LT8GDqdShGJCEeeHwD1MfrHG8LFuQD4evGLnQEizfoYCrZ2C9SVaCL6SWZmihOblu8kyK3Mm3uxogliS5lIwFjQPH5YrgzZylbiUYkueH1lMEVORgnf09ILAxy3s9NxRZumSPSG8sclId0P4bbZ6fSqgAoKmDBhTWWPfMKs/w400-h185/20231004_155014.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I still have a lot of work to do on the outside and the inside. I need a new railing for the front porch and I need to clean the limestone rock around it. I need to find something to cover the foundation on the front and West side of the house. I need to paint around the trim of the windows on the inside. I hope you all like the changes as much as I do.<div><br /></div><div>So along with the goals for sewing for next year, I have house goals too. My biggest for next year is flooring in the downstairs and a deck on the North side of the house. I would like to also check out the price of having gas put in the house instead of fuel oil. I do need to do some landscaping but that may have to wait another year. My sidewalks need work too. It's always something with a home, isn't it?</div><div><br /></div><div>I am hoping to share one more post before the holidays, but if I don't, I hope you all have a blessed holiday season.</div><div><br /></div><div>Blessings</div><div>Amy<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p></div>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-77517577159480474382023-10-09T13:22:00.000-05:002023-10-09T13:22:11.085-05:002023 Goals<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I was reading another blog and she was updating everyone on her 3rd quarter and what goals were accomplished. That got me thinking about my goals for this year. Here it is October and boy have my goals changed this year. Here are my goals for this year.</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Finish all started quilts - this did not get touched</li><li>Paint the kitchen cupboards - still have the paint and need to do before Christmas</li><li>Clean out the small garage and have a sale - it's organized but still need to have a sale</li><li>Carpeting in 3 rooms - money spent on windows and siding instead</li><li>Make 3 scrap quilts for gifting - not yet but there is still time before the end of the year</li><li>Table runner for my Aunt in Winter/Spring - have not thought about this at all</li><li>Bed runner for Aunt's SIL - no clue what I am doing</li></ul><div>Little did I know that in May I would contact a contractor to put new windows and siding on the house. I met with them May 2. Signed the contract and was told siding in 4-6 weeks and windows in 10-12. I decided to put all of my sewing things away so they could do the window in that room. I worked on a quilt for a retiring friend and made a baby quilt but that was it for this year so far. I called the contractor each month to see where we were in the process. Supply chain issues are still a thing when it comes to siding and windows. They decided to do the windows first. August 28th they replaced 13/14 windows. One was ordered wrong and we are still waiting on that one. A week later the siding was delivered and they started that. I will make a post about that soon. They still have some small things to finish.</div><div><br /></div><div>So my summer was spent getting ready for the contractors. My mom ended up in the hospital for 3 days too. She is fine. I spent time with my son at concerts and seeing musicals with my mom and sister. So it's been a great summer. Just not what was planned. And sometimes you have more fun with no plans.</div><div><br /></div><div>So I am going to make a short list of goals to tackle before the end of the year:</div><div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>write blog post about house updates</li><li>baby quilt for coworker</li><li>clean and organize sewing space</li><li>put together at least one scrappy quilt</li></ul><div>I will leave you today with this picture. This is the quilt I made for my coworker/friend. She retired in July. I didn't get a good picture of the quilting, but it came together very well. This is a pattern by my friend Trish and can be found at Blue Bar Quilts online.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinimxG42woI_9AZZBkhTtrT3hqAtERr4LG_2QbdQrW6PVnt-QuLgymTCeDLBrgi2y68yDkGMXCFN3BmPTWxg1-fCJwJ-XDBzF-hkfo1nkiWF0-S1X7ye4M5WCt_Bj5w5ZOdtCzyLch-3LinII1yW5Bpr_rv17M-h6ZP28t14AZyn2viJLxMDt7JYHP5ps/s3098/20230421_175650.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3098" data-original-width="1823" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinimxG42woI_9AZZBkhTtrT3hqAtERr4LG_2QbdQrW6PVnt-QuLgymTCeDLBrgi2y68yDkGMXCFN3BmPTWxg1-fCJwJ-XDBzF-hkfo1nkiWF0-S1X7ye4M5WCt_Bj5w5ZOdtCzyLch-3LinII1yW5Bpr_rv17M-h6ZP28t14AZyn2viJLxMDt7JYHP5ps/w376-h640/20230421_175650.jpg" width="376" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Are you working on your goals for 2024? I am just trying to get through this month. It's going to get busy with the holidays but then Winter really hits and there will be more time to sew. I hope.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div><br /></div></div><p></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-62078429476322251942023-06-19T07:57:00.000-05:002023-06-19T07:57:26.841-05:00Home Remodel<p> Hello Friends</p><p><br /></p><p>So, exciting things are happening on the home front. In May I met with a company that does siding and windows. My house is over 100 years old and needs some updates. My dad had remodeled most of the inside for the past 46 years. When I bought the house in 2018 I quickly changed the paint color in all of the rooms. Well, most anyway. I still have a few things to paint. This house really needed new windows and siding. Dad didn't want to spend the money for siding so the house has had the rolled siding on it. Many years ago, Dad had put a small door on the little garage where a big overhead door had been. He bought a really big air compressor and the only place for it was the front part of the garage. The back of the garage held the wood burning stove. I got rid of the stove and had a friend move the compressor to the back of the garage. I met with a company to replace the garage door with an overhead door again. This only took them 5 hours to built and install. I have discovered why I don't get much quilting done. I am a crafter not just a quilter. If I see something I really like, I try to figure out how I can make it on my own. Don't get me wrong, I do support other artists and will buy patterns and other items. Recently, ok, last October, I saw a deco mesh wreath. I had been to my local Dollar Tree and bought some supplies. They usually have a great selection of signs. I watched a few YouTube tutorials and made this:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_H6yNd3S1vWc8jSysRtLsc8rZvTNBtgYBWzhEWwd1-Y7hfOYGhvowHPdARYvsf7mQADgNNWKId7GUzqeqXh8x-jTi5qd0jeXMAAKOxT5pW7oGhguN3Gl9TspiUeewno0lolRH7hdeYGyqrlaUK9zDzZlm8gaAPsjLTVNCfwBFS5ud8REOEkXUMGI5/s4000/20221004_175833.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_H6yNd3S1vWc8jSysRtLsc8rZvTNBtgYBWzhEWwd1-Y7hfOYGhvowHPdARYvsf7mQADgNNWKId7GUzqeqXh8x-jTi5qd0jeXMAAKOxT5pW7oGhguN3Gl9TspiUeewno0lolRH7hdeYGyqrlaUK9zDzZlm8gaAPsjLTVNCfwBFS5ud8REOEkXUMGI5/w480-h640/20221004_175833.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It hung on my door at work for the season. I wish I could say that I have been busy making quilts but I haven't. I have been working on a cross-stitch piece for a friend and that is taking up most of my free time. I do have 2 finishes to share with you later though.</p><p>Today I wanted to share my word of the year. This is a good reminder for me also. We all need kindness.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil9YA4odAw06GW6r_XQJCQBYnScOU8LNmxNR0pcFui8hn4IMx_ys51CmSocJLox_2NJ36ePShnCda6ZtbTVT-GLpLBJgN_F77zrH64KSaGcAm7KONSjnUUZfj4lcSTfn_Z0RsiBw9CRWsJSUWeAFYKcn8XprKru3QL-DrOOh0edl4YK8NaNfY_Z-9q/s3574/20230207_064036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1418" data-original-width="3574" height="254" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil9YA4odAw06GW6r_XQJCQBYnScOU8LNmxNR0pcFui8hn4IMx_ys51CmSocJLox_2NJ36ePShnCda6ZtbTVT-GLpLBJgN_F77zrH64KSaGcAm7KONSjnUUZfj4lcSTfn_Z0RsiBw9CRWsJSUWeAFYKcn8XprKru3QL-DrOOh0edl4YK8NaNfY_Z-9q/w640-h254/20230207_064036.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="text-align: center;">I wanted to make something in orange this year but the pink was shouting at me to use it. I did not want to cut into the background fabric but then, the fabric is there to use so use it! I am not saving fabric for 'someday' any more. I am going to use it up! There will always be my favorites but what good are they if they are sitting in a drawer waiting to be used. I have more fabric than I will ever need. Time to put it to good use. </span><br /><br /><span style="text-align: center;">Whenever I cut into a fat quarter or yardage. I will cut extra for the scrap bin. I cut some at 1.5 and 2.5. </span><span style="text-align: center;">Trying to build a scrap stash for some much needed scrap quilts I want to make this year.</span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is all I have for you today. Much more coming. I have been crafting if not quilting. Will share those things next time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-88306157475353082072022-12-21T08:13:00.000-06:002022-12-21T08:13:21.392-06:00Goals for 2023<p> Hello Friends!</p><p>I know it's been a while but I have not had much to share. I have finished a few baby quilts and other crafts and will do a year in review later.</p><p>I follow a quilter/cross stitcher named Judy. You can find her blog <a href="https://patchworktimes.com/">here</a>. She is doing a 23 in 23 challenge. The goal is to finish 23 projects next year. You can check out her site for directions. I am choosing to do this with all things I need to finish. Painting the kitchen cupboards, cleaning out the garages, finish a quilt, etc. It would be fun if you would play along.</p><p>I still have not decided on my word of the year for next year, but I have a short list. </p><p>Here are a few of my goals for next year:</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Finish all started quilts- this is doable, as I only have a few that need quilting.</li><li>Paint the kitchen cupboards- I have the paint just need the time</li><li>Clean out the small garage- I will be having a tool sale to get rid of my dad's tools</li><li>Carpeting- I would like to replace the carpet in the living room, spare bedroom and hallway</li><li>Work on building a stash of finished quilts for gifting- especially baby quilts</li><li>Work on a table runner for my Aunt- she would like Winter/Spring reversible </li><li>Work on bed runner for Aunt's SIL- never done this but might try</li></ul><div>I think this is a good list to start. I will be adding to it. What were my goals for this year?</div><p></p><ol style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px; text-align: center;"><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Finish On Ringo Lake- needs backing and quilting-</span><span style="color: red;">Finished</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Finish Grassy Creek-needs more piecing-</span><span style="color: red;">Finished</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Finish Unity- needs to be taken apart and remeasured-</span><span style="color: red;">still working on this</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Make 3 scrappy quilts for gift closet-</span><span style="color: red;">not one started</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Make the Scandinavian flags quilts-there are 5 just need to decide on size-</span><span style="color: red;">not started</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #222222;">Finish all little projects that were started or need fixing-there a quite a few-</span><span style="color: red;">only a few left to finish</span></li></ol><div><div style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;">I have a list of house update goals also:</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><ol><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Flooring in dining room and living room-</span><span style="color: red;">not this year, hopefully 2023</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Paint the kitchen-</span><span style="color: red;">done</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Paint the kitchen cupboards-</span><span style="color: red;">need to do</span></li><li style="margin: 0px 0px 0.25em; padding: 0px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Asphalt the driveway-</span><span style="color: red;">still deciding on that or cement</span></li></ol><div><span style="color: red;"><br /></span></div><div>Well, I finished 2 big quilts and a few baby quilts this year. Not to my goals but they are going on the list for next year. I bought a new sewing machine but have not used her much yet. Next year we will really break her in!</div><div><br /></div><div>I will work on my 23 in 23 list in my next post.</div><div><br /></div><div>Hope you all have a joyous holiday season!</div><div><br /></div><div>Blessings</div><div>Amy</div></div></div>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-45153015725356838642022-08-31T12:37:00.000-05:002022-08-31T12:37:05.311-05:00New Car<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I am sorry it has been so long. This morning I could hear a cricket in my house. Not sure where it is exactly but it makes noise. Hopefully it will find its way outside. Anyway, it got me thinking about this blog and how you must be hearing crickets also.</p><p>Not much to report on the sewing front. I did take a quilt in to the quilter. She informed me that she is quitting long arming. So now it's back to finding a new quilter. They are not easy to find in my area and I don't want to send it out if I don't have to.</p><p>I did start the #Kimsquaredcreative challenge. Kim Lapacek from Project Quilting and Kim from Go Go Kim, are doing a sew along. They are using Tula Pink's 100 Modern Quilt blocks book. I decided it would be a great way to use up scraps. I started on Aug 23rd with block 1. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVwDSFUshGfFx9daIRKyTia5TRAOEnlkgrlCkuOENuw66uxUrygkfg8DCz-GZ7L2tI3iGSWxYXStMNPDWf4vwyn9KtVgeDAwm9ypCnNtn0o1fWXGm5yPx16-_dWCaqKKEKGmgfN0ZglbG_I3FuM0kTy8lsDxDldujpc0KUPuXOqmWfNNuRvFyjn9M/s3000/IMG_20220823_212716_181.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVwDSFUshGfFx9daIRKyTia5TRAOEnlkgrlCkuOENuw66uxUrygkfg8DCz-GZ7L2tI3iGSWxYXStMNPDWf4vwyn9KtVgeDAwm9ypCnNtn0o1fWXGm5yPx16-_dWCaqKKEKGmgfN0ZglbG_I3FuM0kTy8lsDxDldujpc0KUPuXOqmWfNNuRvFyjn9M/s320/IMG_20220823_212716_181.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><span style="text-align: center;">Of course in true Amy fashion. That is the only block I have made. Ugh! Some day I will stick with these challenges. I do still have my machine ready and the fabric ready to cut. I just need to take a day and catch up. With the holiday weekend I thought I would have time, but now I have plans to do other things. But I will catch up!!</span><br /><br /><span style="text-align: center;">I did also finish painting a part of the kitchen that has needed it. My job this fall is to paint the 'old' kitchen. I will explain in pictures when I take some. My dad added onto the house through the kitchen. So we have an old section and a new section with a half wall in between. </span><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In other exciting news, I bought a car. I had my car in the shop last Thursday. It was making a loud muffler sound. It needed part of the exhaust changed. Then I had them put new breaks on the front. A noise in the engine I had told them about was still there when I picked up my car. I asked what it was and they said valve train. That basically means you will need to replace the engine. I was able to drive it all weekend with no problems. Monday I leave for work and it sounds like I am killing a bird under the hood of the car. Then my battery light comes on. I try to do a Y turn to turn around but the steering is not working. I was able to straighten the car and pull over. Gathered my thoughts and turned it around. It was no longer making the noise. But I did not feel safe so I took my van to work instead. The van is my mom and dad's but when I bought the house, it came with it. I use it for hauling things. It's a 2005 and on its last leg but it gets me where I need to go. Anyway, I worked for 2 hours then went looking for a new car. I tried 3 places with no luck. Hardly any used cars and new cars are too expensive. I have wanted a Buick Encore for a long time. I just like the look of them. I had a Buick Century many years ago and loved it. I found one and was able to purchase it. First up is On Ringo Lake. This is a Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt from 2017. I was debating putting bigger borders on and decided to just leave it as is.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTUnd71Zhs5p0kU8JZP8ts9LBZvbvV7lreW8j8XKqRvGOpznOwijHR4tOl3KWDgE1srd2genCMGwlPvgoujS8RVC3r8Cgm07aoA_dJ5WPNzXErMbEhPJcwVHJgY2_7_u2WgGI3O6Sn4Y6guRF6eUqkcwFs4xVyJVCXnBxDJ-fdtxOWSp7D51cr_pT8/s4032/20220424_141323.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTUnd71Zhs5p0kU8JZP8ts9LBZvbvV7lreW8j8XKqRvGOpznOwijHR4tOl3KWDgE1srd2genCMGwlPvgoujS8RVC3r8Cgm07aoA_dJ5WPNzXErMbEhPJcwVHJgY2_7_u2WgGI3O6Sn4Y6guRF6eUqkcwFs4xVyJVCXnBxDJ-fdtxOWSp7D51cr_pT8/w480-h640/20220424_141323.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It feels so good to have this finished.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I had also just finished putting together the 2020/2021 Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt Grassy Creek. I just loved the colors in this one too. Here she is finished:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikf2H-5B1o6hU0YjiautO5stRV-ZA1xbSRnsBBsAyYIKM-odLzCKqFuPhzEhGFoKxMn6GNErei7XN83UkWI6sT9GuBMNPTSiRKTL9y_6p1HxeY7D6UneFZjuUkE968sd2f7IQgFLPwDz2KzSaQaO2AxxTpehg4R7fgHMz-lEV-2xknxlunoia_U810/s4032/20220424_111347.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikf2H-5B1o6hU0YjiautO5stRV-ZA1xbSRnsBBsAyYIKM-odLzCKqFuPhzEhGFoKxMn6GNErei7XN83UkWI6sT9GuBMNPTSiRKTL9y_6p1HxeY7D6UneFZjuUkE968sd2f7IQgFLPwDz2KzSaQaO2AxxTpehg4R7fgHMz-lEV-2xknxlunoia_U810/w480-h640/20220424_111347.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think this is one of my fastest finishes. I did not start this until January of 2021. I worked on it off and on for a few months. By June I had all of the blocks made just needed to make the scrappy borders and block surrounds. It took me a while to do that because it was all paper pieced. I also needed to add fabric to my stash to finish them. I put it all together by the end of the year. It went to the long armer in February with On Ringo Lake. She was a little behind with seasonal sicknesses, but got them back to me the end of April. I had them bound by machine right away. I am so happy with these finishes.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am trying so hard to finish things before starting new things. I did put together a top for the GSafe auction. The fabric was all labeled in a kit that someone donated. I am still deciding on a border. I have the fabric for the border just not sure it will look good.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYAIYOD395xlxyE9zYXzJhtb5YWgT3cxphTMRdeU9jFLUkdVGRRkqCX0fl4exs1s78g9mvioOUfO6BebCByLa4JHVgcZebfCr37p-f8E6YwHmz5c-L-YqEdGKAVnmUp2QrDDSyxeEDhEt0D3YI9q1AAXKgWm7VgBEf5hkNK4yh5_14NZaj3j9BbVut/s4032/20220424_190221.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYAIYOD395xlxyE9zYXzJhtb5YWgT3cxphTMRdeU9jFLUkdVGRRkqCX0fl4exs1s78g9mvioOUfO6BebCByLa4JHVgcZebfCr37p-f8E6YwHmz5c-L-YqEdGKAVnmUp2QrDDSyxeEDhEt0D3YI9q1AAXKgWm7VgBEf5hkNK4yh5_14NZaj3j9BbVut/w300-h400/20220424_190221.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Those are my finishes so far. I did purchase a new sewing machine for my birthday this year. Will post about that soon. Just trying to get used to her. I started with a table runner kit from my sister that has been in my stash for a while. Stay tuned!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Do you switch up your sewing in the summer? I just bought a table and chairs set for my front porch. Hoping to sit and do some hand sewing or crochet this summer. I don't get much machine time in the summer.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-39497718582449979232022-03-21T10:28:00.001-05:002022-03-21T10:28:35.498-05:00Word of the Year - 2022<p> Hello Friends</p><p>If you have been reading this for a while, you know that I make a word for the year. I started this in 2017 as my father was going through some health issues. My first word was Pause. I was making some health decisions for him and if I paused to think about all of the information, I made better decisions.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjx_6bcEWswrHto_xlI-T31kXpxfxcExqYqAQzlgD40q9BbtJDHXknAFsrce4qkPJgdOEJOvhtPzYOnYverVSfyTU1JQHrSciRKDFSLAM9wBCSlQEgsSt14HS57oiwG_G3F1Z_q9kIgH-8BwXZLrspYpN-GhwsXf3VZrilcEM9ant063Xx3vNP23e2t=s1440" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1440" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjx_6bcEWswrHto_xlI-T31kXpxfxcExqYqAQzlgD40q9BbtJDHXknAFsrce4qkPJgdOEJOvhtPzYOnYverVSfyTU1JQHrSciRKDFSLAM9wBCSlQEgsSt14HS57oiwG_G3F1Z_q9kIgH-8BwXZLrspYpN-GhwsXf3VZrilcEM9ant063Xx3vNP23e2t=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then in 2018 Dad was put on hospice the previous December. We knew his time was short with us. I tried to be Mindful of everything I said and did. I wanted to remember all of our talks. He passed in Aug of 2018.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhfkua-zWpxXlJscNvwH4e4P0jK6AEgtfr-6qrhB7xw3rNnj5yHAmCr5_88ByzzHc1OqQ4FKZlJcDKzQn2Jg6eamIgoO2qtFGKMkpthTEaPjXNe6RJPEpNmAraxysNPZ489AWmxJfu5kVUxmV40M7H7tehpiJN7X9KxBy_HrKTodh_SKK0A3WZ7Hhdb=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhfkua-zWpxXlJscNvwH4e4P0jK6AEgtfr-6qrhB7xw3rNnj5yHAmCr5_88ByzzHc1OqQ4FKZlJcDKzQn2Jg6eamIgoO2qtFGKMkpthTEaPjXNe6RJPEpNmAraxysNPZ489AWmxJfu5kVUxmV40M7H7tehpiJN7X9KxBy_HrKTodh_SKK0A3WZ7Hhdb=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In 2019 my son graduated from college and I wanted to take him on a trip. We went to England with my sister. It was a year of Adventure as I also went to Las Vegas to celebrate a friends 60th birthday.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhar1fM9wqFgRL7bvWhsREGj0lpnpgvuqNUBgGebf41QFKm4XIh3WnfTl0JspE8YfrCbBPIgyrmEgj-E-wFuRw-IsjIh-0rFodZc04hetKGXBK19pM5RAxd-Fgi7eyIKZ7cXrkEM6zgxXAtu4HXROkLgSes53CyS_eJ4uXwo9m_TiT-NiYc64Dg_Yg2=s3989" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1837" data-original-width="3989" height="147" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhar1fM9wqFgRL7bvWhsREGj0lpnpgvuqNUBgGebf41QFKm4XIh3WnfTl0JspE8YfrCbBPIgyrmEgj-E-wFuRw-IsjIh-0rFodZc04hetKGXBK19pM5RAxd-Fgi7eyIKZ7cXrkEM6zgxXAtu4HXROkLgSes53CyS_eJ4uXwo9m_TiT-NiYc64Dg_Yg2=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then Covid hit March of 2020. It was also a big year for me as I turned 50. I was hoping it would be a year to Shine. To meet up with old friends or even make new friends. Not knowing the pandemic would put a wrench in that.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgxM1lAs9-ocJbUkFBIzEojUUpgfe0QhCOlrfsVrnXysEULF5XL3suII3sBkhepbJckYGnHR5haqJ7C8IlLK6AuGDZl9GvLoM62uLsl4gIsSp6LnRG91H53-c0vmgLJb3Uls5QgvLBKKBylXKOcg5Y7_dPYso9TZCeoR3QXm77Vz45Aw1dwTKIIoSY6=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgxM1lAs9-ocJbUkFBIzEojUUpgfe0QhCOlrfsVrnXysEULF5XL3suII3sBkhepbJckYGnHR5haqJ7C8IlLK6AuGDZl9GvLoM62uLsl4gIsSp6LnRG91H53-c0vmgLJb3Uls5QgvLBKKBylXKOcg5Y7_dPYso9TZCeoR3QXm77Vz45Aw1dwTKIIoSY6=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In 2021, it was a year to find Joy. We had been on lock down for over a year and there was not a light at the end of the tunnel yet. I wanted to find some joy in the little things we could do for each other. I tried to join some of the online groups through my guild. We made a shared block. It was fun and a good way to think of others and their likes. I still need to finish my block. Might turn it into a pillow.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEigKZoQQvyrphuv0yEcWIuxf64aUSDnLYP9X2-XIBTth8HRB-WqVE0wr0u7Ba7GSACGb1aL7S6ix5ukT-86ORScxKljcMWmsSJCXGkWrGY2LhWOKc_Dnky8W_KTATnjfmA0V6RQBBPoxQNlMuHEJNMIitDjL24wZiYjknHIVrXqLoiiVfgqYVMOhSVN=s4032" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEigKZoQQvyrphuv0yEcWIuxf64aUSDnLYP9X2-XIBTth8HRB-WqVE0wr0u7Ba7GSACGb1aL7S6ix5ukT-86ORScxKljcMWmsSJCXGkWrGY2LhWOKc_Dnky8W_KTATnjfmA0V6RQBBPoxQNlMuHEJNMIitDjL24wZiYjknHIVrXqLoiiVfgqYVMOhSVN=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That brings us to this year. And if not, that is okay too! I have weeks where I don't do anything crafty. And some weeks, that is all I do. Hoping to find a good balance here soon. The weather has been cold but not snowy. We have actually had a few warm days. If you count 40°F warm. On sunny days, you will usually find me in my sewing room. That is a messy room I am hoping to get a handle on in the next few weeks. It's getting hard to find things so it's time to clean and organize. </p><p>I have been working on my <a href="https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2021/02/new-pdf-patterns-grassy-creek-shattered.html">Grassy Creek Mystery</a> quilt. It's a Bonnie K Hunter quilt from last year. I started it in January after she released what it would look like. I loved the colors so I thought I would try it. I had finished the 25 blocks by March and there it sat. I had to work on the sashing and that is paper pieced. I was running low on gray fabric so needed to order more. Then I would get busy with something or nothing else. I was able to finish most of the top. I am working on the borders but again, needed to order a little more fabric. Here is one of the blocks:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiFXMdRvg3dKMC_JYCHme5jLBwIjeJZIP9zV31NfwNDsQdiWLk2SVHhyjtXvbX5CyM-lQvk4T3MJ6AUf7uPDTgzghosiyBT_rrkpxOlQAK9sPPNYxt6P0a4PRG6Wz_55ZpWrrJdRlhQBakegoxqpVYl42FWjW2rnK8VacyyhRIfGRuAGyZLsoK56cu8=s3024" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiFXMdRvg3dKMC_JYCHme5jLBwIjeJZIP9zV31NfwNDsQdiWLk2SVHhyjtXvbX5CyM-lQvk4T3MJ6AUf7uPDTgzghosiyBT_rrkpxOlQAK9sPPNYxt6P0a4PRG6Wz_55ZpWrrJdRlhQBakegoxqpVYl42FWjW2rnK8VacyyhRIfGRuAGyZLsoK56cu8=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These colors will look great in my bedroom. I am waiting on a few packages yet. I want to make the puppies all tie blankets. Need to get them cut out tonight. They need to be finished by Friday. We celebrate our Christmas on Christmas Eve. I will be off from Friday until Tuesday. It will be nice to have that time off. I usually deep clean and put my decorations away. Maybe I will start tackling the scrap piles.</p><p>Did you do any sewing for Christmas gifts? I actually did! I made a few zipper bags for some friends. It felt good to sew again!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhORmIf2qyk_an-jRC6rtr7VZnrdjr2whr29iZkRiBmAsx49vDDDneGOQN_z8WhY42QuyJV-y4aWC_F85-jnV3adBKMstjpx4ffuYjiKFIQ2SBYhIARgdL-JRYyYfj5QDyH9GF-OkHvB2AiIX1nioAN4Rfl7evV5U2vuQmdUpbvO6bwsOArp9kPnSFq=s4032" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhORmIf2qyk_an-jRC6rtr7VZnrdjr2whr29iZkRiBmAsx49vDDDneGOQN_z8WhY42QuyJV-y4aWC_F85-jnV3adBKMstjpx4ffuYjiKFIQ2SBYhIARgdL-JRYyYfj5QDyH9GF-OkHvB2AiIX1nioAN4Rfl7evV5U2vuQmdUpbvO6bwsOArp9kPnSFq=w480-h640" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I took my time. I have been busy with other projects around the house and not sewing as much as I would like to. Hopefully that will change after the holidays.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgaURth_4AUVPuprjxwKkBTEU1KYP3fp8__FXziGHNnYaP7G-UL22Jz90Fjp5vd7jTmtqSHkmkR46qQdxR6r0BlNFLsSDlr2O4tSkCVIgH6ITJUnRGrGYT_RGNN71rWNhXNlwsYv3SZ6WWtf1k8acBH0l8AtnWuVInjHHJGQwz-jds_BALPj5dpBFLG=s2048" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1700" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgaURth_4AUVPuprjxwKkBTEU1KYP3fp8__FXziGHNnYaP7G-UL22Jz90Fjp5vd7jTmtqSHkmkR46qQdxR6r0BlNFLsSDlr2O4tSkCVIgH6ITJUnRGrGYT_RGNN71rWNhXNlwsYv3SZ6WWtf1k8acBH0l8AtnWuVInjHHJGQwz-jds_BALPj5dpBFLG=s320" width="266" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did repaint the dining room. It really feels more homey now. Will hopefully put in wood laminate flooring this Spring. Pushed it out a season so we could have carpeting one more year for Christmas.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhHGqXwdKyfklKoUz4rws336XupC_81E2U9tZsH_ILVjS1Ej8rrA68PNgkFWwdqz-E2We7VoVXe3MuQUFFx85eybz-Je8sNOSPOwB4aTJnYmUlmsyjOIdh4Aoz39LBQGpnLGvfINc4LBvEq1Bgi9OBCbn_dDUQpjQEEqTk2_Io9YrgkDdQVwz9kJFqr=s960" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhHGqXwdKyfklKoUz4rws336XupC_81E2U9tZsH_ILVjS1Ej8rrA68PNgkFWwdqz-E2We7VoVXe3MuQUFFx85eybz-Je8sNOSPOwB4aTJnYmUlmsyjOIdh4Aoz39LBQGpnLGvfINc4LBvEq1Bgi9OBCbn_dDUQpjQEEqTk2_Io9YrgkDdQVwz9kJFqr=s320" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mika is doing well. She has grown so fast and is over 56# already. She is so long! Roxy and her are the best of friends. The only makes I am doing for Christmas this year are blankets for the dogs. I have made them all tie blankets in the past and it's time for new ones. Mika has chewed hers already. Thankfully she is out of the chewing stage.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My mom and sister and I get together to bake for the holidays every year. This year we made a few things ahead of time so we weren't rushed with what was left to make. Mom had spent a week in the hospital in early November. She is fine, just a dialysis water retention issue. She is still getting her strength back. She made Santa face cookies and Snickerdoodles. I made Can't leave 'em alone bars, Kix cereal treats and Cornflake treats.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiB0AcF2tUrPu4978dKUIhTHkcgTlAn6x_HwfL4OxaAD2gQe-TQQEbFjxJJSyHpp8V7udMV5HYzdM9sddGlXlUmMaR3YWs2HzwGnOH2aEWJKWqACkvO3e6ZwTHmaXCAGBizkiv3lZ5_omt3uJhAN4YbJ6W9xbxkzpXwgqxqOxPkzxt5oe4MbJTfodgk=s2048" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiB0AcF2tUrPu4978dKUIhTHkcgTlAn6x_HwfL4OxaAD2gQe-TQQEbFjxJJSyHpp8V7udMV5HYzdM9sddGlXlUmMaR3YWs2HzwGnOH2aEWJKWqACkvO3e6ZwTHmaXCAGBizkiv3lZ5_omt3uJhAN4YbJ6W9xbxkzpXwgqxqOxPkzxt5oe4MbJTfodgk=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also made vanilla flavored and almond flavored Spritz cookies. Right now it looks like this:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><ol><li style="text-align: left;">Finish On Ringo Lake- needs backing and quilting</li><li style="text-align: left;">Finish Grassy Creek-needs more piecing</li><li style="text-align: left;">Finish Unity- needs to be taken apart and remeasured</li><li style="text-align: left;">Make 3 scrappy quilts for gift closet</li><li style="text-align: left;">Make the Scandinavian flags quilts-there are 5 just need to decide on size</li><li style="text-align: left;">Finish all little projects that were started or need fixing-there a quite a few</li></ol><div style="text-align: left;">I think those are some goals I can really do. I hope! Do you have any goals? Sewing or other? I have a list of house update goals also:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><ol style="text-align: left;"><li>Flooring in dining room and living room</li><li>Paint the kitchen</li><li>Paint the kitchen cupboards</li><li>Asphalt the driveway</li></ol><div>These are manageable for me and just my income. There are other things I would like to do but they may have to wait. These 4 are top priority right now.</div><div><br /></div><div>That is all I have for you today. I may check in towards the end of the year if time allows. If not, I hope you enjoy your holidays. Thank you for reading!</div><div><br /></div><div>Blessings</div><div>Amy</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-81969024350412979212021-09-01T09:35:00.002-05:002021-09-01T09:35:29.654-05:00Moment of Zen - a quilt finish<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I am sharing my latest finish with you today. I have been working on this quilt for a while now. I read the blog <a href="https://www.joscountryjunction.com/">Jo's Country Junction</a> daily. She offers recipes, patterns and an inside to living in Iowa. I am only a few hours away from her and hope to meet her someday. I am inspired by her blog everyday. This quilt is called <a href="https://www.joscountryjunction.com/where-we-are-published-american-patchwork-and-quilting-6/">Moment of Zen</a>. Jo writes about it on her blog. It was published in American Patchwork and Quilting. Here is my version:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8xTyPV511U/YS-Cmb0U3LI/AAAAAAAAA6E/yRqfJYkMlOAZu-alcynMxmu1G_qj0FntgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210502_130042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-S8xTyPV511U/YS-Cmb0U3LI/AAAAAAAAA6E/yRqfJYkMlOAZu-alcynMxmu1G_qj0FntgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210502_130042.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is before the quilting. I used the same fabric line that Jo did. It's called Cider by Moda and I bought it at <a href="https://www.fatquartershop.com/nsearch/?q=cider+moda">Fat Quarter Shop</a>. They don't have much of the fabric line left but check it out. I wish I would have bought 2 bundles. I just love this line! If you notice, some of the fabric is in the Grunge line. That is another favorite. I used the cream Grunge for the backing and binding. I really need to work on taking better pictures.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here it is finished:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TwDIeEzrIcg/YS-DXoto7bI/AAAAAAAAA6M/M-HSRzn1_jQyV_I3fyEKOJwucy94K7opQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210726_171203.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1688" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TwDIeEzrIcg/YS-DXoto7bI/AAAAAAAAA6M/M-HSRzn1_jQyV_I3fyEKOJwucy94K7opQCLcBGAsYHQ/w528-h640/20210726_171203.jpg" width="528" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I had it quilted by a new to me quilter named Sarah. She runs a shop about 15 minutes away from me. I love the quilting and hope to be using her services again. I made this for my friend Leah for her wedding. She loved it! Hope you do too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have not been making much else. I do have about 3 that need finishing. I would like to get at least one of them done before starting anything new. I really don't like having UFOs around. How many is too many for you? Do you complete a quilt one at a time or do you have multiples going at once? I do get bored sometimes and start new things. I think I really enjoy cutting the quilt out and binding the finished quilt. The sewing it all together, not so much. Is that weird? I think it is. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Maybe I can change that this month. It is National Sewing Month starting today! Hope I can sneak in some time daily to sew something. Better start planning what to tackle first.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Feel free to send me pictures of what you are working on too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-14572605091992067152021-07-21T07:54:00.000-05:002021-07-21T07:54:52.127-05:00Summer 2021<p> Hello Friends</p><p>Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. It has been humid here but not too bad. Glad I have the a/c though. Just a little update on what I have been doing in the past few weeks. My back door had a bad railing. It was rusted at the bottom so it was not very safe. My mom had a hard time getting up the steps with it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-49-M6-l7VdU/YPgMasLLtlI/AAAAAAAAA44/hb4qeZ0A4YYymPM59q7n1Ueb37KN1S3UwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210710_063722.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-49-M6-l7VdU/YPgMasLLtlI/AAAAAAAAA44/hb4qeZ0A4YYymPM59q7n1Ueb37KN1S3UwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210710_063722.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you look to the bottom of this picture you can see the rust. My dad had put in the white fencing to prevent his last dog from putting her head in the railing. And the white board on top was for them to put their bags/boxes of groceries on to help get them in the house.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now I have a new and improved railing. It is sturdy and just what was needed.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8FKiEceZCko/YPgMeTDCAlI/AAAAAAAAA48/3pg5yJHUGb4039TTtvrmdIVygmbCC-kywCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210710_152905.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8FKiEceZCko/YPgMeTDCAlI/AAAAAAAAA48/3pg5yJHUGb4039TTtvrmdIVygmbCC-kywCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210710_152905.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I can't wait until I can afford to side the house. It is in my 10 year plan and I have owned the home for 3 years. It will happen soon. I hope.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In other news, my son bought his first car. He has had 2 other cars but I have bought those. His last car was a 2006 and was good for college. He just upgraded to a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. I am so happy for him.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The puppies seem to like it too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x7Y7hVaKE_k/YPgYQ0uammI/AAAAAAAAA5M/0P8BvpdpPhsWpxvRFYli7ogKWK-zCWAYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Resized_20210718_121914.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1355" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x7Y7hVaKE_k/YPgYQ0uammI/AAAAAAAAA5M/0P8BvpdpPhsWpxvRFYli7ogKWK-zCWAYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Resized_20210718_121914.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In sewing news, I have been quilting a baby quilt and my friends wedding quilt is back from the quilter. Stay turned for pictures of finished quilts soon!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-36967733603477768522021-06-21T09:44:00.000-05:002021-06-21T09:44:27.398-05:00Not much sewing going on<p> Hello Friends</p><p><br /></p><p>Thought I would give a little update on what has been going on in my life and why there isn't much sewing happening. I am in the middle of house projects. Still have a lot to do but I am doing a little at a time. My front flower beds looked terrible. The weeds were so high!</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LW1TuLRE-uc/YNCelbfapaI/AAAAAAAAA4E/fXhrpRvQ36E4bLNJwIIrTN9gn1SdyYDPACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210605_124324.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LW1TuLRE-uc/YNCelbfapaI/AAAAAAAAA4E/fXhrpRvQ36E4bLNJwIIrTN9gn1SdyYDPACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210605_124324.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I worked in the early morning before the sun was too high. It was very hot and humid outside. This only took about an hour and a half.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ulhp9kEUN_k/YNCeqXwNCPI/AAAAAAAAA4I/PYvEX_DwUDcsREaR-WZF8QyjK4k7lH9NACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210606_065256.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ulhp9kEUN_k/YNCeqXwNCPI/AAAAAAAAA4I/PYvEX_DwUDcsREaR-WZF8QyjK4k7lH9NACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210606_065256.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I decided to plant some hydrangeas. They are a white/pink variety. Can't wait to have flowers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also pulled the weeds in the flower bed to the right of this picture. And I mulched. Didn't get a picture of the weeds before. But it does look a lot nicer.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">With the temperatures so high, I have not felt like sewing. And of course I have too much on my plate in that aspect. I have lots of fabric and patterns just sitting waiting to become a quilt. Just no desire right now. Then, Lori Holt is doing her Red Sampler Quilt Along and I have decided to try it too. I don't care much for red so I am making mine in blue. I have finally gathered the fabric and hope to sit and get the blocks cut out soon. And a friend asked me to pattern test for her. Just got that fabric on Friday. Need to get that going this week.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Oh, and did I mention my sister will have a big birthday on Saturday and the whole family is coming to my house to celebrate? I love it though. It will be a lot of work but it is so worth it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And in other news: I have a new grandpuppy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4y5rz5LCIE4/YNCjIxR6nNI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/m5EOW5_-v0ASpZv5135rbsNn2Djh5TG5wCLcBGAsYHQ/s960/FB_IMG_1623460954168.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4y5rz5LCIE4/YNCjIxR6nNI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/m5EOW5_-v0ASpZv5135rbsNn2Djh5TG5wCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/FB_IMG_1623460954168.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A few weeks ago my son was Facetiming me and said he had something important to tell me. He moved the phone and showed me this beautiful puppy. Her name is Mika and she is 13 weeks old and completely blind. She is living her best puppy life. She doesn't know she can't see because she never could. It is fun to watch her follow the voices she is familiar with. We had to stop Facetiming last week because when she hears my voice she gets confused as to why she can't feel me and then she cries. I can't wait to have her over to my house this weekend. Big sister Roxy is not so sure of her yet but is trying to adjust.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That is about all I have for you at this time. I hope my sewing mojo appears soon so I can share more with you.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Enjoy the longest day of the year! It's all downhill after today. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-64417962227461950212021-03-21T07:04:00.000-05:002021-03-21T07:04:24.160-05:00Ab Intra PQ 12 <p> Hello friends</p><p>I have finally made my word of the year. This has been a hard year. Any guesses on my word? Here it is:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nNfELTZNA2Q/YFczLCwLtDI/AAAAAAAAA2o/5AnKl8lCVd4MtKGuppY5ymkcRpPR5GSHwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210320_151237.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nNfELTZNA2Q/YFczLCwLtDI/AAAAAAAAA2o/5AnKl8lCVd4MtKGuppY5ymkcRpPR5GSHwCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/20210320_151237.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I am hoping we can all find some 'joy' this year. I did have a pretty good year despite the pandemic. But like many of you, I did not get to see my family as much as I would have liked. I know this year will be different. My son will be vaccinated soon and we can start to live again.</p><p>Making this yesterday was a great chance to participate in the <a href="https://kimlapacek.com/project-quilting-season-12">Project Quilting</a> 12.6 challenge. I have not made anything for this challenge in a couple of years now. Was trying to focus on catching up. I was in a good position to make this for the challenge. This weeks challenge was Ab Intra. Meaning 'within'. This is my 5th word of the year. It's a word I will keep in my mind everyday. It will spark my creativity. I find 'joy' in sewing and crafting. I am working on some crochet right now. In between the many quilt projects I have going on. I hope you can find some joy in your day. Today and every day.</p><p>This little wall hanging is 9x7.5. I used <a href="https://huntersdesignstudio.com/product/book-quilt-talk-autographed/">Sam Hunter Designs book Quilt Talk</a>. If you follow the link it is actually on sale right now! Thank you, Sam! This was made in Monticello, Wisconsin.</p><p>Big thank you to Kim and Trish for making these challenges. They are a lot of fun and I hope to be back into making all of them again soon.</p><p><br /></p><p>Blessings</p><p>Amy</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-25987927369547279562021-03-19T13:29:00.001-05:002021-03-19T13:29:11.336-05:00Some kitchen painting<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I can feel that Spring is arriving tomorrow. It's been a little cold and we had about 2 inches of snow this week. But the sun is shining and a new season is upon us. Makes me want to be outside getting the lawn and patio area ready for company. I don't have any quilts to show currently. However, 2 baby quilts are in the works and ready for basting. Yay!</p><p>I did want to show you some pictures of my kitchen. I will do a full reveal when I have finished it all. So stay tuned. I have only painted 2 walls right now. Other things have kept me busy. I am hoping to do more this weekend and next week. My kitchen is in 2 sections. The old kitchen and the new extension. The old part has all of the cupboards and most of the appliances. Then new section has the table and chairs and the washer and dryer. The old part also has wallpaper. Yuck! That is why it is going to take me a while to get it finished. Plus I want to paint my cupboards. Once I get really started, I get things done. </p><p>I had seen a picture on Hobby Lobby's site that had a feature wall with cow decor. Since this is an old farmhouse, I wanted to capture something close to the picture.</p><p>This is what the wall looked like before paint:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XIbf_KzFiQI/YFTqxn4PHcI/AAAAAAAAA2E/Y3ZpkSgu39ATfz_Z2yNan-5c6XB2BWw1QCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210306_063141.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XIbf_KzFiQI/YFTqxn4PHcI/AAAAAAAAA2E/Y3ZpkSgu39ATfz_Z2yNan-5c6XB2BWw1QCLcBGAsYHQ/w400-h300/20210306_063141.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That door to the left is what we call the secret room. Dad built shelving over the stairs that are under it. I keep most of my crock pots and other occasional items in there.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the after:</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksGu3k72SWY/YFTqz0tdDCI/AAAAAAAAA2I/Cb85-obPLHYVB6_CiS8Nt8kg9Bzu8ZmMgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210307_143407.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="2048" height="422" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksGu3k72SWY/YFTqz0tdDCI/AAAAAAAAA2I/Cb85-obPLHYVB6_CiS8Nt8kg9Bzu8ZmMgCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h422/20210307_143407.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I will take better pictures when I am completely finished. I did hang another cow picture above the flowers but did not take a picture of it yet. I had the center cow picture also from HL. The flowers were picked up at Walmart and the metal flower was bought at my local furniture store. I was in a couple weeks ago to see about a new couch. I did find one and ordered it. Might not be here for 6 months because the manufacturer is having a hard time getting product. That is when I saw the metal flower and just knew I had to have it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I can't wait to finish and show you the before and after pictures. It makes me excited to keep going!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And in other exciting news, I am scheduled for my first C-19 vaccine on Tuesday. Wish me luck!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Take care</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-30633753582819485902021-03-11T13:00:00.000-06:002021-03-11T13:00:22.725-06:00A couple of completed tops<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I don't have much to talk about these days so I don't blog. I have finished a couple of quilt tops so I thought I would throw them on here. I have multiple things going on right now, but no finishes. A few friends are having babies and I am making some quilts. Everything seems to take more time than it used to. Probably because my heart just has not been in it. I did start a quilt a couple of weeks ago. It's the <a href="https://www.modernhandcraft.com/pdf-patterns/snowflake-quilt-pdf-pattern">Snowflake Quilt</a> by Modern Handcraft. I have had the pattern and fabric for a while. I had bought 12 fat quarters at a local shop and decided to use them to make the scrappy version. I added 1 more fat quarter to the group as it calls for 13. I was sewing away making my blocks when I discovered I didn't have enough fabric. Ugh! I hate when that happens. Of course my fabric choice was from 2017. Luckily I found a little shop in Nebraska that had a 1/2 yd of one of the prints. I may have to tear out a few blocks and move some around, but as long as I can finish it, I will be happy. Here is what I have so far:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GuNtPkiZ-1A/YEpkLEGLTNI/AAAAAAAAA1Q/--pF4TgI21QoWDtBGgDLld9AqxHr8g48wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210302_185047.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GuNtPkiZ-1A/YEpkLEGLTNI/AAAAAAAAA1Q/--pF4TgI21QoWDtBGgDLld9AqxHr8g48wCLcBGAsYHQ/w300-h400/20210302_185047.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I can't wait to finish this. Hopefully soon.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Before starting this I finished 2 other quilt tops. I participated in our local GSafe fundraiser last year. GSafe is an organization that supports LGBTQ+ students in schools. They did a quilt auction last year hoping to raise $10,000. They had over 200 entries and raised over $25,000. Some of our local quilt shops collected donations too. People brought in old kits and fabric they no longer wanted. I was given 3 of these quilt kits to work on. I seem to complete things faster when they are for other people. Here is the first one:</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X5hdnXcV1u0/YEpmCehA3_I/AAAAAAAAA1o/L7DaHetmvg8T0a2Jgn40jzogJpCjThMmgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210215_061203.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X5hdnXcV1u0/YEpmCehA3_I/AAAAAAAAA1o/L7DaHetmvg8T0a2Jgn40jzogJpCjThMmgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210215_061203.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The colors are off on the picture. The yellowish blocks are really a sage green. This is Majestic Eagles from QT.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This next quilt top was a kit from Connecting Threads. It's called Prickly Pear. It was fun working with Batiks.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8bPoDz4pt6E/YEpkbl5tjKI/AAAAAAAAA1c/gAjreUUR1PoYiRThmg0s08wXLMXuUrWwgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20210208_060408.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8bPoDz4pt6E/YEpkbl5tjKI/AAAAAAAAA1c/gAjreUUR1PoYiRThmg0s08wXLMXuUrWwgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20210208_060408.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Well, at least I had something to show you. I have been busier than I thought. I am working on painting the kitchen in between these projects. One wall done, many to go. My kitchen is in two parts. The old kitchen and the new addition. There is a half wall between them. The old kitchen has wall paper. I need to take that down before I paint. I was blessed with some wonderful gifts. And time with my family. There are only 6 of us and we wore masks and stayed apart. We had good food and watched White Christmas. </p><p>As I am reflecting on this past year, I am encouraged to come up with some goals. I did a very bad job of sewing this year. Yes, I did finish some things. But not as much as I could have. I made a lot of masks that I really did not want to make. I think this next year will be a year of sewing what I want. I have lots of patterns and fabric just waiting to be used. Here is a list of goals for next year - sewing and other things:</p><p></p><ol style="text-align: left;"><li>Read more! I really need to step up my game. Get the tv off and read! I am hoping to finish at least 12 books next year.</li><li>On Ringo Lake Quilt. This was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt in 2017. It is time for borders and quilting.</li><li>Unity Quilt. This is also a Bonnie Hunter quilt. She created it when Covid first started. I started to play along and got most of the rows together but ran into a problem with the final rows not fitting. I tore this all apart and need to remeasure my seam allowance.</li><li>Organize my fabric. I am still trying to figure out my sewing room space. Lots of scraps need to be organized.</li><li>Work on house projects. I need to paint the kitchen, repaint the dining room and paint the dining room table and chairs.</li></ol><div>That is all I am putting on here for now. I know there are a lot more projects and things I want to do, but I need to focus on these things first. The rest will come in time.</div><div><br /></div><div>I am also working on my word of the year. Any guesses?</div><div><br /></div><div>I will leave you with a picture of a gift I received for my birthday. Yes, I turned 50 this year. But given Covid, I think I will turn 50 next year when it is hopefully safe to celebrate!</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0YyvWL5qa4E/X-tawUCDL8I/AAAAAAAAAz4/yllKKTWkQCQtEB-I2iK8Vj5DgpjimkndQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20200505_075522.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0YyvWL5qa4E/X-tawUCDL8I/AAAAAAAAAz4/yllKKTWkQCQtEB-I2iK8Vj5DgpjimkndQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20200505_075522.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Happy New Year!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /></div><p></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-87831668746464539072020-11-27T10:35:00.003-06:002020-12-01T09:37:15.598-06:00An Introduction<p> Hello Friends!</p><p>How are we doing? Hope you are all staying healthy. So far so good for us here. I wanted to take this post and talk a little about myself and why I started this blog. There are some new readers that have come to visit. Hello and welcome!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jnFQi1aYzi8/X8Ej4AzPuGI/AAAAAAAAAy0/kGQzFxNtNIwCThrcKRl6K4W0OOKNkMIPwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1920/20160903_094149.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1080" height="227" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jnFQi1aYzi8/X8Ej4AzPuGI/AAAAAAAAAy0/kGQzFxNtNIwCThrcKRl6K4W0OOKNkMIPwCLcBGAsYHQ/w128-h227/20160903_094149.jpg" width="128" /></a></div><p>I am Amy. I live in a little village south of Madison Wisconsin, called Monticello. I work for the largest medical software company in the country. I am a receptionist and get to talk to our customers everyday. They are so fun to talk to!</p><p>I am the mother of Samuel. He is almost 24 years old. His father and I divorced when he was 2. He currently lives in Oshkosh WI with his girlfriend, Iolanda and their puppy, Roxy.</p><p>I have a sister, Lisa who lives in Madison WI with her husband, Austin and their puppy, Ruby.</p><p>I also have 2 brothers from my father's previous marriage. </p><p>I bought my parent's house in 2018. It is the house I grew up in. My dad was in the nursing home and my mom moved to an apartment shortly before I purchased the house. My dad has since passed but mom is still enjoying life at her new apartment.</p><p>I love to read other peoples blogs so I thought I would start one here to document my life and quilting journey.</p><p>Now to the fun stuff! I have been quilting for 10 years. I found a quilt blog and started asking questions. Everyone was so helpful I knew I needed to be a part of this group. Then I heard about Merry Mayhem. <a href="https://www.merrymayhem.com/index.html">Merry Mayhem</a> does a mystery quilt along on New Year's Day. I decided to follow along. I did not know much about fabric and measurements. I bought some fabric from Walmart and was excited to cut into it. This is the first quilt I made:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bkCs3UBjIbg/X8EmAGyKHPI/AAAAAAAAAzA/1N67tcwqUv4bcPU_nc_98rFFd9EhV7rhQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201127_101119.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bkCs3UBjIbg/X8EmAGyKHPI/AAAAAAAAAzA/1N67tcwqUv4bcPU_nc_98rFFd9EhV7rhQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201127_101119.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I didn't know much about color and value either. I didn't know about batting and binding. But I have learned. And I am still learning. That is what is so wonderful about quilting. There is always more to know.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have made around 50+ quilts. Some are small doll size and some are queen size. I do like to finish projects quickly so I tend to make smaller things. But sometimes you just have to make the bigger quilt.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I do like a challenge. In the past I have been a part of <a href="https://kimlapacek.com/project-quilting">Project Quilting</a>, doing those challenges. My friends Kim and Trisha run it. They are a lot of fun and I have even won a couple of the door prizes. If you like a challenge, I really hope you will play along with them. I never know if I am going to do participate until I see the challenge and see if my time will permit. There are 6 challenges in 12 weeks. You get the challenge on Sunday and it must be complete before the next Sunday. It really is amazing to see what others make.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think that is enough about me for now. I do use this place to talk about my family, my house remodel and quilting. You can always look back at earlier posts to see what I have been up to. Do you have any questions for me? You can always email me too at theturquoisebutton at gmail dot com.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thanks for reading!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-114194026234159462020-11-03T09:38:00.000-06:002020-11-03T09:38:25.450-06:00My bedroom<p> Hello Friends</p><p><br /></p><p>Well, I have mostly finished my bedroom remodel. There are a few touches I would like to make but those will come in time.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is part of the room. This photo was taken from the bathroom looking into the bedroom. The walls were white and there was red carpeting that I had just removed. This was a year ago.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JtMWi8FIc3M/X6F0p4fG6wI/AAAAAAAAAw8/H_JXQ1T7F88-QMrdQY77e06mtMnI5wqpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20191020_160002_039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JtMWi8FIc3M/X6F0p4fG6wI/AAAAAAAAAw8/H_JXQ1T7F88-QMrdQY77e06mtMnI5wqpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_20191020_160002_039.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is that same view. New and improved. The lamps were purchased at Target. My wonderful friend and Bestie, Cathy, gave me a gift card when I bought the house. Thank you Cathy!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nVMXYp_NkCI/X6F1kkXcZfI/AAAAAAAAAxs/tYX0h38Heu84VkkuEdNPpOqWBPBKvZxrACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201031_063526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nVMXYp_NkCI/X6F1kkXcZfI/AAAAAAAAAxs/tYX0h38Heu84VkkuEdNPpOqWBPBKvZxrACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201031_063526.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Found this cow picture at the store At Home. I could spend hours in that store. The sewing machine and thread box were bought for my mom from my dad. The Singer machine still works.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3nutjzdzqf4/X6F1znWf2dI/AAAAAAAAAxw/sO7TAad-TXQFPGinzAgQIwfugDJq13nxACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201102_130552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3nutjzdzqf4/X6F1znWf2dI/AAAAAAAAAxw/sO7TAad-TXQFPGinzAgQIwfugDJq13nxACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201102_130552.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is a view from the hallway into the bedroom. I still need to find a little table to put by my chair. My wonderful neighbors at my previous apartment gave me a gift card for Pier 1. Luckily I used it before they all closed. That chair will get lots of use.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-71nbSQHVRDc/X6F13NJPWjI/AAAAAAAAAx4/5VvyRMuDkTol8ahGyLmyAXWy_TG-a6UzwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201031_063602.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-71nbSQHVRDc/X6F13NJPWjI/AAAAAAAAAx4/5VvyRMuDkTol8ahGyLmyAXWy_TG-a6UzwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201031_063602.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the view from the chair. I just love my IKEA furniture! That little green chair may get repainted. Not sure if I like that color now.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BSV8vlPvYPc/X6F19wvp6TI/AAAAAAAAAyA/_rsO4e_REVYkiNKRNJY_9ZiBGd53fbBvACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201031_063537.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BSV8vlPvYPc/X6F19wvp6TI/AAAAAAAAAyA/_rsO4e_REVYkiNKRNJY_9ZiBGd53fbBvACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201031_063537.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Another view from the hallway.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yvvU8axxIIw/X6F2DfshAtI/AAAAAAAAAyI/YubEnkx2Eq8vUGUe0DzryBkMhDSv6BiGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201031_063559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yvvU8axxIIw/X6F2DfshAtI/AAAAAAAAAyI/YubEnkx2Eq8vUGUe0DzryBkMhDSv6BiGgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201031_063559.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am hoping to share a new quilt on that bed someday soon. It's not really a new quilt but one that needs finishing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am currently binding my Maple Leaf quilt. My other friend and Bestie, Marilyn and I exchanged blocks. My friend Heather did the custom quilting. Wait until you see it! It's now one of my favorites!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Not much going on in the sewing department at this time. Now the holidays are coming and I need to focus on more cleaning. I must say that the house is about 98% of my things and only 2% of my parent's. Starting to feel like home.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Still need to decide if and what to make my coworkers for Christmas. I have a few ideas but nothing that really jumps out at me. Do you make holiday gifts or buy everything?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Blessings</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Amy</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06461990263975975665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6385891126415538322.post-34859234295147869942020-10-13T07:50:00.000-05:002020-10-13T07:50:37.259-05:00Catching Up<p> Hello Friends</p><p>I know it has been a while. With Covid it's hard to do anything fun. Just go to work and go home. Somewhere along the line I've lost my sewing mojo. I think part of it is Covid and the other part is working on things in the house. This little red chair was found in the attic when I had a/c installed this summer. I decided to paint it a spring green. This little pop of color will look nice in my new bedroom.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QFk1Z0ox6rs/X4WdTJ5VchI/AAAAAAAAAwM/yP_KSonYhbA98wzK4sLSTRxuwiYAT9o6wCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20200801_120542.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QFk1Z0ox6rs/X4WdTJ5VchI/AAAAAAAAAwM/yP_KSonYhbA98wzK4sLSTRxuwiYAT9o6wCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20200801_120542.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I decided to paint the spare room. This was my room growing up. My sister painted it this purplish color. It was a challenge to cover it, but I am glad I did. This is a corner of the room before.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UdQr6hyGa6k/X4WdYx39WEI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/3Ptjk-SD44AHbylrd6aLpEiXbNuE3CDLACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20200913_051323.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UdQr6hyGa6k/X4WdYx39WEI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/3Ptjk-SD44AHbylrd6aLpEiXbNuE3CDLACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20200913_051323.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is the same corner after. I love the bright yellow with the navy curtains. The blue carpeting was on my wish list growing up. Dad had it put in the year I moved out. 1990. Eventually it will be wood laminate. That cabinet is my mom's old Singer. She still runs. </div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRYoeMNMKJ8/X4WdcGeO9wI/AAAAAAAAAwU/YrC-hg-0pS8LBndvljhogivukAsWMR4BACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201004_131711.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eRYoeMNMKJ8/X4WdcGeO9wI/AAAAAAAAAwU/YrC-hg-0pS8LBndvljhogivukAsWMR4BACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201004_131711.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the same corner just a bigger angle. That quilt was made by my friend Charisma. We met on the Quilting Board and swapped scraps. Those are my fabrics that she used. I just love this quilt and I think it is perfect in this room.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XlWbl0tt3BI/X4WdfTBsQsI/AAAAAAAAAwY/EhZam7Ve_6UGRXbqU8JDmN3W_2Se-oeZACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/20201004_132126.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XlWbl0tt3BI/X4WdfTBsQsI/AAAAAAAAAwY/EhZam7Ve_6UGRXbqU8JDmN3W_2Se-oeZACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/20201004_132126.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I will show more pictures of this room when I have the rest of the furniture in it. Hoping to get that this weekend. Stay tuned.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The summer wasn't a total loss. When I had the a/c installed they cleared out the attic for me. I have gone through all of the boxes and totes and taken a van load of items to the donation site. I have about 2 more loads to take. This house is starting to feel like my home not the house I grew up in. I am loving my little country farm house. Still lots to do, but it is slowly coming along. I was able to talk to the guy that put the metal roof on years ago. He is pricing out windows and siding for me. Might be able to swing that next summer. It was part of my 10 year plan but I am going to do it now if I can.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I did actually sew something this summer. This little applique apple pillow cover was made for my chair at work. I love to change it out for the seasons.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MsRMukBTmMM/X4WdmPIjibI/AAAAAAAAAwc/g4mOk-93AOMtm741nUQaXt4G4SspAFLYwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_20200928_205338_518.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MsRMukBTmMM/X4WdmPIjibI/AAAAAAAAAwc/g4mOk-93AOMtm741nUQaXt4G4SspAFLYwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/IMG_20200928_205338_518.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My quilter just finished my Maple Leaf quilt. Hoping to show you all that soon.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Looking for ideas for gifts for coworkers for Christmas. I have made rope bowls, aprons, rice bags, lunch bags, mug rugs, coasters, dish towels, dish cloths and Chapstick holders. Any ideas? I have men and women to make for. I was thinking of shopping bags. Maybe the kind that fold into a pocket size? If you have any ideas, please leave me a comment or email me. <br />
I want to share another quilt finish with you today. I have completed 7 quilts so far this year. I am not trying to finish 1 a month like last year, because honestly, I am running out of quilts to finish. That just means now I can create new quilts.<br />
A few months ago my mom asked me to make a Spring/Summer quilt for her bed. She has a twin size adjustable bed. I had purchased <a href="https://www.woodberryway.com/2018/08/summer-blossoms-new-flower-quilt-pattern.html">this</a> quilt pattern - Summer Blossoms by Allison Jenson from Woodberry Way. When mom said bright colors, I knew this was the pattern. It calls for 20 fat quarters. I had about 13 of them already. I took a picture of them with me to my <a href="https://www.bluebarquilts.com/">quilt shop.</a> Here is the finished quilt:<br />

<br />
The colors are very bright. And she just loved it. Here is the back of the quilt:<br />

<br />
<br />
My friend Heather did the quilting. Beautiful as always.<br />
<br />
I am working on another quilt but it is really ugly. My friend Gael passed along some vintage fabric. The fabric alone is pretty, but together not so much. I may end up loving it when it's finished though. Stay tuned.<br />
<br />
Have a great weekend!<br />
<br />
Blessings<br />
